Outstanding individuals and organizations honored today at the State Capitol
Under the gold dome, Governor Nathan Deal today recognized the state’s best and brightest individuals and organizations with the presentation of the 2016 Governor’s Awards for the Arts & Humanities.
DULUTH- Chances are when Art Vedejs received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering he never thought he’d be using his skills to build a robot, or maybe he did!
After retiring from Bell Labs, Art, whose last name is pronounced VA-DAY, began volunteering with his neighbor Johnnie Rowe at the Hudgens Center for the Arts in Duluth.
Duluth: The Magari Theatre Company opens its debut season with the hilarious comedy, I Hate Hamlet at The Red Clay Music Foundry, October 17th-November 10th at 7:00PM ET on weeknights. All members of the community are invited to attend the show.
The City of Lawrenceville’s Gas Utilities Department received it’s second award of the year from the American Public Gas Association. For the second consecutive year, the department received the “Safety Award” which recognized the team based on the number of employee hours worked and the number of hours lost to accident or injury during the 2015 calendar year.
Festival to include artist market, children’s activities, entertainment and food
Norcross – Norcross Art Splash, now in its 13th year, will return to historic downtown on October 1 and 2, 2016. The festivities will run from October 1 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and October 2 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Duluth – Mr. T. Scott “Scotty” Duncan is a Partner in the Commercial Real Estate and Banking Group of Andersen, Tate & Carr, P.C. and an Adjunct Professor in the School of Business at Georgia Gwinnett College. Scotty focuses his practice in the areas of commercial real estate transactions and development, secured lending (including acquisition and development, construction and permanent loans), and commercial leasing.
City Partners with Local Eateries to Host German-Inspired Event
The City of Lawrenceville invites self-proclaimed foodies and ale enthusiasts to ‘Probst on Perry’ during its inaugural Oktoberfest event on Saturday, Oct 1, from 12-6pm. In partnership with local eateries – Local Republic and McCray’s Tavern– the City will bring the traditional German autumn festival to life on the Historic Downtown Square.

On October 1 from 12-6 p.m., the City of Lawrenceville partners with McCray’s Tavern, Local Republic, and Spaten Beer for an Oktoberfest celebration on the Lawrenceville Square.
