The American Red Cross encourages eligible blood donors to give one last gift this holiday season and discover the true meaning of giving by donating blood. 

Busy holiday schedules and seasonal illnesses, like the flu, can often mean fewer donors giving blood. But for patients with cancer or other illnesses or injuries requiring blood transfusions, the need for blood is constant and doesn’t get a holiday break. The gift of a blood donation only takes about an hour and can give patients a chance to celebrate more holidays to come.

In the year 1922 the Snellville citizens came together to build a facility to house a Consolidated School including the first through eleventh grades. It was to be Snellville Consolidated School, and was the first rural consolidated school in Gwinnett County. The first High School class graduated in 1923 and the last high school class – including the 12th grade by then – was the class of 1957.

Lawrenceville, Ga. – The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday approved an agreement with Coast2Coast Rx to offer prescription drug discount cards to residents. The new card will allow all County residents, regardless of income, age or health status, to participate in the program and save on the cost of their medications. 

SPLOST funds to build new Level Creek Park

(Lawrenceville, Ga.) –A new active community park will be built soon to serve the recreational needs of the Lanier school cluster and Sugar Hill area in northern Gwinnett County. Funds from the 2009 SPLOST will pay for the $10.8 million contract commissioners approved Tuesday with low bidder Astra Group Inc.
