“We all know we should not be in a world with childhood cancer, but we are. So, what are we going to do about it?” said Lauren Harrison, a teacher at Brookwood High School and a beneficiary of the Amanda Riley Foundation, a 501(c)3 that supports families battling cancer.
The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners and officials from the Georgia Department of Public Safety and Georgia Department of Transportation broke ground Tuesday on the Georgia State Patrol Post in Gwinnett County.
In their new book, Georgia POW Camps in World War II, co-authors JW Wetzel, and Dr. Kathryn Roe Coker share the little-known history of WWII prisoners of war who were held at a prisoner of war camps across the state of Georgia. Weaving research with first-person narratives, they tell a timeless tale, showing how soldiers regarded as mortal ‘enemies’ became an integral part of the Homefront and saved Georgia’s harvest in 1944 when most of the able-bodied farmworkers were fighting overseas.
Gwinnett Technical College’s Commercial Construction Management program has been approved by the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) for a five-year accreditation. A team of junior golfers, ages 13 and under from the Duluth area, will be competing in the PGA Jr. League Regional presented by National Car Rental at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Sept. 7-8. The winner will advance to the 2019 PGA Jr. League Championship presented by National Car Rental, Oct. 11-14, at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
