Norcross to host famed Atlanta muralist Yehimi Cambron

Muralist Yehimi Cambron is coming to the Norcross Community Market on August 10!

On Saturday, August 10, the City of Norcross and Norcross Public Arts Commission (NPAC) will host famed Atlanta artist and muralist, Yehimi Cambron. Ms. Cambron will be doing “demonstration art” for both children and adults at the Norcross Community Market at Lillian Webb Park, which is a project of the Sustainable Norcross Commission every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the summer months.

Hearts to Nourish Hope helps wayward youth in Gwinnett find purpose

Patrice Wuerth, COO and Co-founder of local non-profit “Hearts to Nourish Hope”, is on a mission to provide work and education opportunities to troubled youth in the community. With a new center in Lawrenceville that focuses on ages 16 to 24, Patrice sees all kinds of possibilities to make a difference for those in DEFACS, the Juvenile Court system, and out-of-school teens in Gwinnett.

After performing in Frozen Jr. at Citi Springs Theatre this summer, Ally Copeland went to NYC to see Frozen on Broadway where she got to meet Ryann Redmon. Ryann is currently playing Olaf and was also the original Bridget in Bring it On: The Musical.

Ally Copeland, a sophomore at Grayson High School, started acting in Couch Middle School’s theater program in the sixth grade. Working to hone her craft, Ally has grown as an actor and as a person, and there’s no other life she can imagine for herself besides the lights, the action and all the pizazz that comes with musical theater.

Squirrel hunting season opens August 15th

Time to hit the woods in pursuit of Ole Bushytail! Squirrel hunting season provides the first opportunity of the year to start replenishing that meat in the freezer, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division. Unlike some big game hunts, the pursuit of squirrels often involves more action for energetic youth, providing a greater level of interaction with the outdoors.

GMC Sports Medicine Program Helps Gwinnett Schools Achieve Important Safety Designation

14 schools honored as Safe Sports Schools by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association

The Sports Medicine program at Gwinnett Medical Center (GMC) announced today that 14 of its partner schools in Gwinnett County have achieved “Safe Sports School Status” awarded by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association. The designation is given to schools that have taken crucial steps to keep their athletes free from injuries.
