Norcross Masonic Lodge Awards Annual Pillar Award to Local Firefighter

The Pillar Award honors and recognizes those first responders who serve above and beyond the call of duty.

Norcross  – On Wednesday night, the Norcross Masonic Lodge presented their annual Community Pillar Award to local firefighter and paramedic Chuck Esswein for his outstanding service to the community.

A historic photo of Gwinnett’s segregation era Hooper-Renwick High School located in the City of Lawrenceville. The school operated from 1871 to 1968 as the only Gwinnett County public school for African-Americans. Gwinnett County schools were desegragated in 1968.

Preserving the Hooper-Renwick Legacy

In 1944, Renwick High was built on three acres of land donated by Mr. Renwick. Students attended grades 8—11 at the school. It was the first public African American high school in Gwinnett County.

The Haynes Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Association held its 13th Annual Memorial Service this past April 29th. The theme of this years’ service was to honor the memory of the veterans known to be buried at Haynes Creek.
