Norcross Art Splash & Wine Festival has some incredible news – and organizers are just bursting with pride! Sunshine Artist, “America’s Premier Arts and Crafts magazine,” has chosen Norcross Art Splash & Wine Festival as one of their “200 Best” events in the country. This is a huge honor, and the City of Norcross can show off this new feather in their cap!

Gwinnett Animal Shelter joins Clear the Shelter Program on Saturday

Gwinnett County Animal Welfare and Enforcement on Saturday will participate in the fourth annual Clear the Shelters initiative with an Adoption Jamboree. Clear the Shelter is a national effort involving hundreds of shelters that offer free pet adoptions to help empty shelters and provide homes for dogs, cats, and other animals.

The National Association of County Information Officers awarded Gwinnett County with several honors at the organization’s annual Awards of Excellence reception in Nashville on July 15.

Bicentennial website named nation’s best

The website devoted to Gwinnett County’s yearlong Bicentennial Celebration won Best of Show out of 249 entries in a National Association of County Information Officers awards competition. Four other awards for Gwinnett County communications materials were also presented in Nashville on July 15.

New Coding School Opening in Peachtree Corners

Georgia Tech partners with Prototype Prime to offer coding classes.

PEACHTREE CORNERS – In a special event that drew Georgia Tech’s president along with numerous alumni, several “pioneers” of Technology Park and other dignitaries, Mayor Mike Mason announced Thursday that Prototype Prime would partner with Georgia Tech in offering a new coding school at Prototype Prime’s campus in Peachtree Corners. The event was held at Prototype Prime, the city-funded startup incubator located in Technology Park Atlanta.

$1,000 DNR Grant available for Top Conservation Teacher

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is offering a $1,000 grant to a third-, fourth- or fifth-grade public or private school teacher in the state who demonstrates exceptional energy and innovation in teaching life sciences. Science specialists covering those grade levels also may apply.
