There are some things I run across in the course of a day that just beg the question,“Who on earth thought of this, and why?” You know what I’m talking about, those everyday items that either make your life a little bit easier or a little bit more difficult.

Ah, the things that come with age, yes? I love the wisdom and clarity; the ability to discern; the sure knowledge of what I want; the satisfaction of having raised, or nearly raised, our children; the sheer joy of having a grandchild. The list goes on and on.

One of the best decisions I ever made, for both myself and for my family, was to just bite the bullet and leave corporate America for unchartered territory. It’s been said that our children will make us the saddest and the happiest we will ever be in life, and I believe that to be true. No, I know it to be true. My husband and I have experienced both the happiness and the sadness with our children, who range in ages from 23 – 30.
