The awards serve to honor production teams in TV, film and commercials that strengthen their storyline by exercising a strategic and intentional use of filming locations.
“We were thrilled to have FOX’s Sleepy Hollow film on our Historic Downtown Square as the project invested tremendously into our local economy,” said Mayor Judy Jordan Johnson. “As the County Seat and the oldest City in Gwinnett, Lawrenceville has a lot to offer as far as culture, architecture, and design goes.”
Within the six categories, Sleepy Hollow is nominated as an “outstanding location in a period television series” along with TV series like Game of Thrones, Gotham, Aquarius and Fargo. FOX’s hit TV series began filming in Lawrenceville last fall and invested significant capital into reinventing some of the City’s historic infrastructure for its use.
“Filming on historic properties and in town squares with lots of traffic and commerce can be difficult but the City of Lawrenceville made it happen for our production,” said Nancy Haecker, Location Scout & Manager. “We are extremely appreciative of Lisa Sherman, the Town Council and the community for their support and cooperation.”
The winners of the LMGI Awards will be announced during a formal ceremony hosted by David Doumeng on Saturday, April 23.
In the meantime, Lawrenceville and Gwinnett County continue to open their doors to the film industry as the City focuses on the film industry as one of its target sectors for economic growth.
