​City of Norcross to Make Downtown ‘Sparkle’ For Holiday Season

Sparkle Holiday Celebration to include carriage rides, photos with Santa, Christmastree lighting and more

Norcross (Gwinnett County), GA - The city of Norcross will host its annual holiday celebration, ‘Sparkle! A Celebration of Kids, Creativity and Magic’, which includes carriage rides, photos with Santa, a Christmas tree lighting in the park, holiday entertainment and more starting on December 1st.

Of special note, this year’s Christmas Tree Lighting on December 4th will be marked by a special appearance from the Budweiser Clydesdales. 

norcross logo190“We invite all of our citizens and visitors to experience the wonder and delight of the holidays in Norcross,” said City of Norcross Mayor Bucky Johnson. “In what is a special time of year, we look forward to sharing the spirit of the season through our holiday celebration.”

The city of Norcross is pleased to present the following events to celebrate the holiday season: 

Christmas Tree Lighting: Join us for the traditional lighting of the community Christmas Tree in Thrasher Park and enjoy music from Norcross United Methodist Church. Santa will be busy checking his list in his workshop in the park and will be available for photos with all the good little boys and girls. Enjoy free hot cocoa and cookies (while supplies last), courtesy of the Lions Club and the Norcross Masonic Lodge, and a holiday movie (“Kung Fu Panda Holiday”) on the big screen while you wait in line to meet Santa. Relish in the sounds of the Salvation Army Brass Band as the annual Red Kettle Bell campaign kicks off. In all their grandeur and adorned with festive holiday colors, the Budweiser Clydesdales will make be making a special appearance at the Christmas Tree Lighting. Join in on the awe and excitement on December 4 at 5:30 p.m. in Thrasher Park.

Holiday First Friday Concert with Gentleman of Swing: There may be no such thing as a time machine but let Norcross take you back in time musically to a less busy and quieter world, when music had melody and tunes had swing. Since 1998, Atlanta’s best jazz musicians perform classic vintage Jazz, Swing, and choice current material. Be there with Christmas bells on and continue the holiday feeling listening to the tunes of the season from 7 – 9 p.m. at the Community Center on December 4.

Historic Tour of Homes: Open your imaginations and peer into homes from yesteryear and today during the magical Historic Norcross Holiday Tour of Homes on December 5 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and candlelight tour from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. For more information, visit historicnorcrossholidaytourofhomes.com.

Hosted by the Downtown Development Authority of Norcross, the homeowners of five charming houses welcome visitors and friends into their beautifully decorated houses, as the City of Norcross comes alive with sparkling lights and the spirit of the season. With two additional stops along the tour, the shuttles will be bustling with fun and excitement! Make sure to stroll through the tantalizing eateries and boutiques while exploring the enchanting town of Norcross.

Photos with Santa and Carriage Rides:  We hope you have been nice this year because Santa himself will be visiting downtown Norcross! Carriage rides will be dashing through Norcross December 1 through December 22 every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday evening from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in front of Taste of Britain.  You can catch Santa at The Crossing Restaurant from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. December 8, 9, 11, 15, 16, and 18th.

North Metro Dance Academy Performance: Be entertained with wonder and amazement at this performance on Saturday December, 12th from noon – 2 p.m. in front of Chalk it Up at the corner of 127 S. Peachtree Street in downtown Norcross.
