Gwinnett Medical and Gwinnett Sports Commission Announce Georgia Gwinnett College Donation
By Gwinnett Citizen Staff Reports

Duluth, Ga.(January 16, 2014) – Gwinnett Medical Center (GMC)-Duluth recently announced a gift from the Gwinnett Sports Commission benefitting Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC).  With the gift, an athletic transporter will be purchased so that injured athletes can be moved safely and securely from the field.

Stan Hall, executive director of the Gwinnett Sports Commission, and Jason Chandler, president of the GMC Foundation

A transporter is an all-terrain vehicle that can navigate fields without aggravating the athlete’s injuries.  Previously, the athletic program shared a transporter with other departments; the new vehicle will be dedicated to athletics.

“In a few short years, GGC has developed an athletic program that provides the regime young athletes desire while reinforcing respect and integrity,” said Stan Hall, Gwinnett Sports Commission president. “Through GMC’s foundation and their sports medicine program, the Gwinnett Sports Commission wanted to fill any gaps related to safer play; the transporter gift was the solution.”

“Our involvement with GGC has grown steadily to provide them additional resources they need to treat student athletes,” said Tim Simmons, GMC-Duluth’s director of sports medicine. “This gift will help us see that they receive the proper medical attention quickly and effectively.”

The transporter will arrive to GGC by the first of February and will be available for baseball, tennis and softball seasons.
