Constitution Week, September 17 – 23, 2015

Constitution Week, September 17 - 23, 2015

This is an annual celebration that was begun by The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.
President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed into law in 1956, the observance of Constitution Week.

The purpose of the observance is to remind Americans of their responsibilities to protect and defend the Constitution; to inform citizens of their great heritage and to encourage the study of the history leading up to the ratification of our Constitution in 1787.

The Philadelphia Winn Chapter of the NSDAR in Lawrenceville will be observing the week in various ways along with municipal leaders who are asked to issue proclamations in recognition of Constitution Week.  Philadelphia Winn Chapter will also make presentations to local school groups.  Churches are asked to ring bells or place an announcement in their bulletins.  We will join with other Daughters statewide for a luncheon at the Piedmont Driving Club in Atlanta on September 19th.

Elizabeth Jaeger is our Philadelphia Winn Chapter Chairman for this annual event.
