Golf Classic for a Great Cause - May 4th at Chateau Elan
Golf Tournament in Support New Building Campaign for Special Needs Kids

Lawrenceville, GA — The Special Needs Schools of Gwinnett (SNS) is pleased to announce its upcoming Golf Tournament to be held May 4th at Chateau Elan. A full day’s activities are planned starting with 18 holes of Golf at the Legends, the scenic golf course at Chateau Elan, followed by a Cocktail Reception, Dinner, Auction and an Awards Presentation.

Funds raised by the Golf Classic will be 100% donated to the SNS Capital Campaign to support its Building Fund.

SNS kicked off its Capital Campaign: If We Build It, They Will Grow in September 2014, to raise $4.2 Million for a permanent home for SNS. SNS has been serving the needs of Gwinnett County’s Special Needs Community for over 25 years but has outgrown its current facilities consisting of two residential homes and two trailers on Davis Road in Southern Lawrenceville. The school wants to expand to better serve the requirements of their current students as well as provide services for more kids – especially important as Gwinnett County grows. SNS has had a waiting list of students who want to attend the school for many years and is constrained by not having more space.

SNS currently serves 60 students ranging in age from two to adult. The special needs preschool includes typically developing children along with those who have a range of developmental disabilities. The elementary, middle and high school programs provide challenging and innovative instruction tailored to each student’s needs. An adult program gives young adults the opportunity to continue learning and growing while contributing to the school community in meaningful ways.

The school exists because many students with special needs do not fit the traditional public-school model. SNS is funded primarily by tuition however, some families receive assistance through the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship, a state-funded program.

So if you’re a golfer, or if you know a golfer – come and enjoy a fun and exciting day of golf for a good cause! If you don’t golf, but would like to contribute in some other way (a donation toward our Building Fund or an item for our Auction), please contact us – we welcome all support!!
