At a special called meeting on April 22, 2022, the Gwinnett County Board of Education appointed Melissa Laramie as the school district’s new chief communications officer.

Ms. Laramie most recently served as the executive director of communications and public affairs in Kent School District in Washington. She will lead the district’s communication efforts, taking on the responsibilities handled by Sloan Roach, executive director of communication and media relations, who is retiring at the end of April.
