Students from the Lawrenceville-Suwanee School of Music performed piano, voice, and guitar pieces on October 13th in the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City. The concert included the music director (Mrs. Valencia Giles), guest performers, and 9-Time Grammy Award Winning Artist, Bobby Sparks. The concert will expand each student’s awareness of musical culture and give them a vision for their future. Mrs. Giles released a statement: “I am celebrating a musical experience that I never dreamed would happen. I did not dream to have a music school with nearly 500 students from all around the world; India, Vietnam, Bolivia, Mexico, China, Japan, and many other countries. I did not dream that many of these same students would take the stage at one of the most iconic music venues in the world. This concert was an opportunity to teach our students about inspirational growth and self-confidence. My parents, students, and guest performers were thrilled for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.” The Lawrenceville-Suwanee School of Music is a school that’s been serving Gwinnett County through music lessons for 9 years. The Lawrenceville-Suwanee School of Music serves nearly 500 students and has a plan to open up a second location off of Peachtree Industrial Blvd. in October.
