The Brookhaven Bucks are members of the Sunbelt Baseball League (SBL), a summer collegiate wooden-bat league that is funded in part by Major League Baseball. The roster is made up of players from colleges around the southeast.

Six Gwinnett County graduates were contributors to the team’s success this summer.

Infielder Daino Deas, a graduate of Parkview High School and Junior at Georgia State University, had 24 hits, 13 runs scored, 4 doubles, a triple and 10 RBI this season.

Outfielder Jacob Gassert, a graduate of Norcross High School and Senior at LaGrange College, joined the team late in the season but made a big impact in the nine games he played (.515 average, 9 runs scored, 4 doubles and 3 stolen bases).

Keyton Gibson, a graduate of Buford High School and Senior at Georgia Tech, pitched in 10 games, earning 2 saves and striking out 17 batters in 13 innings pitched. He was named to the SBL All-Star team.

Outfielder Cameron Hearn, a Parkview High School Graduate and Junior at Alabama State University, hit .367 and stole 8 bases for the Bucks. He was named to the SBL All-Star team.

Michael Payne, a Wesleyan School graduate and Sophomore at College of Charleston, struck out 12 batters in 10.2 innings this season.

Jordan Ward, a graduate of Wesleyan School and Sophomore at Jacksonville University, earned 5 wins this season, had a 1.56 ERA and pitched a team-high 46 innings in 8 games over the summer.

The Bucks finished the season with a 21-13 record, which is the most wins in the 8-year history of the franchise. Corey Patterson, a retired 12-year Major League Baseball player, is the Bucks head coach.

The Sunbelt Baseball League has six teams around the metro-Atlanta area (Alpharetta, Brookhaven, Marietta, Norcross, Lawrenceville, and Suwanee). Bucks home games are played at Oglethorpe University. Primrose School of Brookhaven is the Bucks lead sponsor.
