•The News-Herald, April 30, 1903, “A.F. Archer was elected superintendent of the Lawrenceville school.”
•From the April 18, 1910 issue of The News-Herald: “Dr. W.P. Ezzard now visits his patients in an automobile having purchased a machine last week.”
•The Lawrenceville News reported in April 1920: “The price of corn whiskey took an upward turn, it is now $20 a gallon.”
•The April 1935 issue of The News-Herald reported: “The formal opening of the Lawrenceville Public Library will be held on April 12, 1935. The library will be open every Monday and Friday from 4-6.”
•The News-Herald, “Margaret Gann celebrated 35 years with the telephone company on April 4, 1959. She began work at the company on April 4, 1924. Margaret has lived in Lawrenceville all her life and when she began working with the phone company there were 150 phones in Lawrenceville.”
Lilburn Elementary Kindergarten teachers and students for good listening skills and good manners on Dr. Seuss Read Across America Day on March 3, 2014. Those children and their teachers made readers enjoy the time spent reading to them. Some who read to Lilburn Elementary pupils on March 3, 2014 were Gloria James, Barbara Willis, Mary Long and Brenda Zellner. Gloria Gunter James read to Lilburn Kindergarten students on March 3, 2014.
Guest readers at Alcova Elementary School on March 3, 2014 were Gwinnett County Commission Chairman Charlotte Nash, Dacula Mayor Jimmy Wilbanks, and State School Superintendent John Barge.
The School Belles from the Lawrenceville High School Class of 1949. These women meet in Lawrenceville each month for lunch and an organ recital.
The Central Gwinnett Cluster Foundation was established in 2011 and in May 2014 the foundation will award three $500 scholarships to winning applicants from Central Gwinnett High School and Phoenix High School.
Sheriff Butch Conway, Board of Education Member Carole Boyce and philanthropist Clyde Strickland were presented the Scott Hudgens Distinguished Citizens Award by the Northeast Georgia Council of the Boy Scouts of America at the March 4, 2014 annual American Values Dinner.
The Grayson City Council for ap-proving the installation of additional water fountains at Grayson City Park.

Dates to Remember
•Trolley tours of Lawrenceville will begin on Saturday May 3, 2014 at one o’clock. The tours begin in Downtown Lawrenceville near the fountain on Crogan Street.
•The Lawrenceville High School Alumni Association will meet at the Lawrenceville First Baptist Church on July 5, 2014 for a covered dish luncheon beginning at 11:30. Lunch will be served about 12:30.
•Gwinnett Retired Educators meet at the Hamilton Mill Restaurant in Dacula on April 18, 2014. The 2014 Student/Teacher Scholarships will be awarded and a performance by the Brookwood High school Chamber Orchestra Ensemble will be part of the program.
•The Gwinnett Historical Society Offices are open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
