On Saturday, Oct. 17 from 9am – 3pm, the Health Department will hold a flu vaccine clinic open to children and adults at the Norcross Health Center located at 5030 Georgia Belle Court, Norcross, GA 30093. Appointments are required and are available by visiting https://www.gnrhealth.com/getaflushot. The event is no-cost to individuals with health insurance. Low-cost options are available for the uninsured.
On Monday, Oct. 19, the Health Department will staff a drive-through flu clinic for individuals 19 and older at the Lilburn Activity Building – 788 Hillcrest Drive NW, Lilburn, GA 30047 from 9am – 3pm. Appointments are required and are available by visiting https://www.gnrhealth.com/getaflushot. During the registration process insurance information will be collected. For individuals uninsured, there will be no cost to obtain the vaccine at this event.
Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 13 – Friday, Oct. 30, every weekday, the Health Department will be at the Gwinnett Elections Office in Lawrenceville offering flu vaccine for those participating in advanced voting. For all other advanced voting locations, the Health Department is working on scheduling at least one day at each location and at least three days for advanced voting at Lenora Park, George Pierce Park, and the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds. Vaccines provided at early voting are at no cost to the public; however, the Health Department will ask that individuals provide their insurance information (if insured) to help cover some costs. Billing insurance will not result in a charge for the individual.
“The flu shot is more important than ever this season,” said Dr. Audrey Arona, district health director for Gwinnett, Newton and Rockdale County Health Departments. “The flu vaccine provides another layer of protection to our prevention strategies. Even if you get the flu, if you are vaccinated, your risk of severe complications from the flu or COVID-19 will be much less.”
