Gwinnett Medical Group Adds Neurosurgical Expert

Lawrenceville, Ga. (January 23, 2014) –Gwinnett Medical Group (GMG) recently announced neurosurgeon Matthew M. Kimball, MD, has joined The Brain & Spine Institute. Some of Kimball’s areas of expertise include tumors of the brain (including skull-based), traumatic brain injury, degenerative disease of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine, and corrective surgery based on previous procedures.

Since 2006, Dr. Kimball has been both an educator and a practitioner of neurosurgery. He specializes in all aspects of the brain and spine. 

Dr. Kimball is board-eligible in neurological surgery and a graduate of George Washington University. Kimball completed his residency at the University of Florida where he was on the neurosurgery faculty, and also completed an elective in Endovascular Neurosurgery.  He is a recipient of the 2012 Charles “Chuck” Shank Award, recognizing residents who represent professionalism, hard work and dedication to patient care, among other awards.  

Before becoming a physician, Dr. Kimball worked as an emergency medical technician including service at the Olympic Winter Games in Utah in 2002. In recent years he has volunteered as a teacher and served on three international medical expeditions.
