Lighthouse Car Wash holds fundraiser
September 7th Delete Blood Cancer Fundraiser

Braving the pouring rain for an early fundraising event and will be ready for the big September 7th date.

Swabbing the decks takes on a whole new meaning at the Lighthouse Car Wash Fundraising event in September. Besides swabbing your car clean, the delightful volunteers would like you to consider simply swabbing the inside of your cheek to add yourself to the national registry of potential stem cell or marrow donors. It really is that simple and you can do it while your car gets a serious swabbing from the pros at Lighthouse.

Two representatives from Delete Blood Cancer were on hand for a pre-fundraising event in August. They met with Lighthouse Car Wash owner, Brian Hah, and made plans for the September 7th Fundraiser. In addition to the car washes, there will be horseback riding with Atlanta’s own Urban Cowboy, Brannu Fulton, and organic frozen yogurt available. A festival atmosphere will be in the works rain or shine while the folks from Delete Blood Cancer educate the community on the simple and painless process of providing a swab for adding yourself to the bone marrow registry. “It is an easy way to potentially save a life,” says Jaclinn Tanney from the national organization. “Getting swabbed takes less than a minute and does so much good.” Ordering a packet of kits for any event is a breeze. These are do-it-yourself type tests, completely confidential and can be an added benefit to any party or event. So, if you are planning to have a few folks over for any occasion, consider making a quick swab kit a part of the favors!

Raising awareness about Delete Blood Cancer supports the very reason that Brian Hah chose Lighthouse as the name for his carwash business. “I want to be a beacon in the community for positive action,” says Brian. “The lighthouse represents the mission to do a good business and benefit our neighbors.” Together, with the Delete Blood Cancer organization, the mission to add people to the marrow registry will be a few swabs further along than it was last month or last year. “Raising awareness for this cause could not happen without the local efforts of businesses like Lighthouse,” says Kimberly Duncan of Delete Blood Cancer. “We promise lots of fun, clean cars and a good cause.”
