Helping Mamas, Inc Receives Grant through Rotary Club of Gwinnett

Snellville, GA – Helping Mamas received funding through the Rotary Club of Gwinnett to support our Safe Sleep Initiative. This generous donation will allow us to purchase cribs and pack and plays to ensure babies in Gwinnett have a safe place to sleep.

Helping MamasUnsafe sleep is the leading cause of death in infants under the age of 1 across the country. Helping Mamas Safe Sleep Initiative seeks to provide a safe sleep option for families that are unable to purchase safe sleep options for their infants. In 2016 Helping Mamas distribute 98 number of cribs and pack and plays. In 2017 we have already distributed 41 safe sleeping options. This funding will allow us to continue making safe sleep a reality for families living in poverty.

Each year the Rotary Club of Gwinnett awards grants to local non-profits thanks to their annual fundraising efforts and a charitable endowment the Club set up years ago via the Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia. The Club’s Charitable Giving Committee conducts a formalized granting process. They encourage grant applications across the community and give each request careful consideration. Grants align with Rotary’s six areas of focus: Peace & Conflict Prevention/Resolution; Disease Prevention & Treatment; Water & Sanitation; Maternal & Child Health; Basic Education & Literacy; and Economic & Community Development.

The Rotary Club of Gwinnett County was founded in 1973 and has been serving and giving back to the community for more than 40 years. President Saltiel said, “Rotary’s motto is Service Above Self.
