NO HEAT
Make sure your gas is on.
Check the gas shut-off valve at the gas company’s meter by tracing the gas line from the furnace to the meter. The handle should be parallel to the gas pipe, indicating that the gas is on. Check for other shut off valves around the house, and make sure they are all on. Contact your gas provider, or an HVAC service technician if your gas needs to be turned on.
Make sure your Thermostat is on and all the settings are correct.
Check your thermostat to make sure that all of the settings are correct. Make sure it is on “Heat” and not “Cool.” Check that the thermostat is on, and the program is displaying the right day and time, as well as the appropriate AM and PM settings. Check your batteries. These are easy tips that most homeowners overlook.
Make sure your pilot light is on.
Pilot lights do go out occasionally. Find your equipment manual and follow the instructions to relight your pilot. The instructions should also be printed on your equipment, or on the back of the furnace door. If your pilot lights keeps going out, or it is too difficult for you to relight the pilot yourself, please give your HVAC service technician a call.
Make sure your circuit breaker has not tripped
Check your circuit breaker and if it has tripped, then reset the breaker. If the problem persists, please call your HVAC technician to schedule a service call.
NO AIRFLOW
There are many dust particles and impurities in the air, which may cause air filters to get clogged and cause problems with your HVAC system. Air filters should be changed twice per year at minimum, and if this is not done, it can cause reduced air flow. Sometimes changing the filters can resolve this issue.
If you are having issues with your furnace or HVAC system that you cannot resolve yourself, the highly trained and experienced HVAC technicians at Allgood, Plumbing, Electric, Heating & Cooling are always happy to help you.
