Konas, Kops and Kids

Konas, Kops and Kids

The Lawrenceville Police Department and Kona Ice Gwinnett announce their new joint effort to promote positive behavior and good citizenship of the youth in our community.

When kids of all ages are observed by the Lawrenceville P.D demonstrating leadership, good manners, courage, respect and all things positive, a ‘ticket’ will be issued in the form of a Kona Koupon good for one free “Klassic” size Kona Ice snow cone.

Officer Phillips states, “Lawrenceville police officers will be out in force looking for kids and teens to issue their ‘tickets’ to and reward our youth for doing the right thing”.   Lawrenceville P.D. will also have the opportunity to nominate youth “ticketed’ for outstanding courage or leadership for extra Kona Ice goodies like a Kool Kona tye-dye t-shirt or special visit by the Kona Ice truck.

Kona Ice Gwinnett is a mobile shaved ice company that has quickly become a local favorite at our local schools, churches, festivals and youth sports, not just for its amazing shaved ice, but also for its fundraising efforts for these organizations.  Owner Richard Schrader shared, “In today’s culture it seems that we jump at the chance to publicize all that is negative, but this is a great way for kids to be rewarded for doing the right thing and to build a positive interaction with our local law enforcement officials.  Our children should be encouraged to run to the police, not run away from them.  This is a small effort to start building a more positive relationship.”

So, spread the word!  Lawrenceville police officers will be on patrol for kids caught doing good.  Make sure your kid gets ticketed!
