Leadership Snellville looking for participants

SNELLVILLE – Applications are now being accepted for the second Leadership Snellville class.

The program, which will take place May 14 to July 30, graduated eight participants from its inaugural class last year. Class projects included creating large Christmas gift boxes for display next to the Christmas tree on the Towne Green during the holiday season and the placement of a vending machine in City Hall.

The class is free and modeled after the Leadership Gwinnett program.

“This program was my vision to help create a better informed citizenry and to get more people involved in the city,” Mayor Kelly Kautz said. “The previous class completed 11 weeks of classes during which it learned about everything from police services to city budgeting. I was very excited to hear the class feedback about how informative the program was.

“I am very proud of this program and of the dedication of the first class. I know that since we started the program here in Snellville, other cities such as Lilburn have begun similar programs. I hope that one day all of the Gwinnett cities will offer their own program. Leadership Gwinnett is a vital program for our community, but it is also important for citizens to understand the role that we as cities play in the community.”
