Lilburn Educators Honor nearly 500 High School Graduates of Web-Based Financial Education Program

Lilburn, Georgia – May 22, 2014 – Today, Berkmar High and BrandMortgage honored nearly 500 graduates from BrandAcademy, a financial education course designed to empower young people with the essential skills needed to make sound financial decisions.

BrandMortgage has partnered with leading education technology company EverFi, Inc., to bring this interactive, web-based financial management program to Gwinnett County students.

Students at Berkmar High were recognized today for their outstanding work in completing the program. The event was incorporated into Berkmar Senior Day, recognizing nearly 500 students for successfully completing the BrandAcademy program. School staff, district staff, parents, and bank representatives were in attendance, where teacher and student representatives spoke to the audience.

“It is more important than ever to arm Georgia students with the skills to make sound financial decisions,” said Berkmar High Principal Al Taylor. “We are proud to offer this innovative online course to our students to ensure a brighter and more successful future.”

BrandMortgage has partnered with EverFi, Inc. to bring the program to local students at no cost to the schools or the taxpayer. The web-based program uses the latest in new media technology – simulations, avatars, gaming and adaptive-pathing – to bring complex financial concepts to life for today’s digital generation. The high school course offers over six hours of programming with ten units in a variety of financial topics including credit scores, insurance, credit cards, student loans, mortgages, taxes, stocks, savings, 401k’s and other critical concepts that map to national financial literacy standards. The platform uniquely tracks the progress and performance of every student and provides students who successfully complete the course with Certification in Financial Literacy, a valuable mark of distinction on college applications and resumes.
