This year we loved the Dacula High School Prom Queen, Kamilah Harruna, and King, Babila Famuteh. When I saw their outfits, I knew that they must have coordinated and indeed they had. They have been dating for 19 months and wanted to honor their African culture and go with the traditional Kente cloth. Kamilah is headed to Boston University with a full leadership scholarship. Babila is headed to Wesleyan University on a football scholarship. We hope distance makes the heart grow fonder with these two.
Rachel Perry has served many roles for us. She is a previous employee of Magic Moment and was also a tech at Grayson Veterinary Hospital, where we take all of our pets (and we have a lot). She has always been a favorite because of her willingness to help out in any capacity and her ability to remain calm at all times- a great trait when making hard decisions about pets. This spring she will graduate from Gwinnett Tech with a degree in Veterinary Technology. Her love of animals began at a young age when she got her family to adopt Shorty, 11, and take in stray dog Tic Tac, 10-ish. Both dogs did not share in the emotion we felt during the shoot as Tic Tac was yawning and Shorty took a lot of cajoling to sit up. We are proud of you Rachel and can’t wait to see what you do next.

One of our favorite leagues to photograph is the Special Populations league out of Bay Creek Park. You can participate at any age, so we have photographed some of the players for over 10 years. Case in point – best friends, or “besties”, Gloria and Jessica. They met as Middle Schoolers at Crews Middle and today, at 28 years old are still best friends. Instead of Middle school, they now go to “Smile” together a program where they volunteer and learn life skills. Added bonus, Jessica’s mom Lisa and Gloria’s mom Sharon have become best friends as well. It sure makes Saturdays at the ball park more fun!
Grayson Athletic Association Coach Adam Peterson’s lively softball team is always a highlight. These girls are always pushing our creative envelope with new poses and concepts. This year we photographed them right before an evening game and were able to properly capture their enthusiasm to start. In contrast is the Archer Athletic Association Coach Parson’s Travel Team. We have had the privilege to photograph several of these kids for the past few years. We have literally seen them go from energetic little kids, to focused serious athletes. This year they got to take their pictures in the high school dugout, a perk from having Archer Athletic Director Tim Watkins adorable son Kaleb on the team.
Brookwood High School Baseball Team, coached by Titus Martin, finished the regular season 24-5. They won their region with a record of 11-1. Chad Williamson featured pitching made the Varsity team his junior year and quickly took on a leadership role with his dual job of starting pitcher and DH when not pitching. This year he has been on fire with an 8-1 pitching record and a .330 bat-ting average. He has been stellar on the mound and come up with some clutch hits to provide runs to help the rest of the pitching staff on the team. He is currently being recruited by several JUCOs and D2 schools. Good luck to them on their way to state.
We are big fans of local private school Loganville Christian Academy and one of the biggest perks for us is the fun variety of events we get to photograph. Photographer Angela Stanton’s first pas-sion is horses. She owns a horse farm and has National Awards to back it up. So she is never happier than when her two passions meet. She was thrilled to get the opportunity to photograph the LCA Rodeo team – which boasts 5 national award winners along with a lot of up and coming talent.
We hate to end the 2017 school year but we know that the distractions of summer are ahead- swim teams, all star softball and baseball teams and getting to know the class of 2018 at senior portraits.
