First of all, it is the time for Halloween. I absolutely adore this holiday. The decorations, the costumes, and the pumpkins – I love it all! We always decorate our house, inside and out, top to bottom. We have used some of the decorations for many years now, and I have to say my favorite is our jester. We won it from a Halloween store raffle, but the only problem is that it is too tall to put in the house or on the porch. It is a nine-foot-tall creepy clown that used to give my brother and me nightmares. Another exciting thing about decorating is the pumpkins. We love to go up to North Georgia to a place called Burt’s Pumpkin Farm. They have some of the biggest and best pumpkins, and I love to bring them home and carve them. Another thing I love about Halloween is the costumes. Whether its trick-or-treating, passing out candy, or going to a Halloween party, I start planning my costume months before Halloween. The best part about Halloween this year… Its on a Saturday!
Another one of the best things about October is the Homecoming parade and game. I have gone to the parade many times in the past, but I just began attending the games. I’m not in high school yet, but since my brother is in the marching band this year, I have started going and I really enjoy it. It’s a great thing to look forward to after school, and spending time with some of my friends outside of school is extra fun.
One of the other things I enjoy during this season is our family reunion. We typically meet early in October at a community clubhouse that is kind of set in the woods. It is always really fun to visit with family and cousins that I only get to see once a year. When we were little, my brother, cousins and I used to run around in the woods, and we would get these weird little sticky things stuck all over our clothes. I remember I used to get so mad when they would stick to my tights, and I would rip them trying to get the little things off. I can’t say much has changed, but now we have totally matured to Frisbee. Our family reunions revolve around the consumption of plenty of incredible food. We probably have about three banquet tables dedicated to food. Everything there is awesome, and there is always someone who brings KFC, one of my personal favorites ;). I look forward to these reunions for the opportunity to visit, and did I mention the scrumptious food?
One of the final things I anticipate this time of year is the wonderful change in weather. I get really excited when it starts to cool down from the endless heat and humidity of summer. The leaves are gorgeous when they begin to change color. And lets not forget the fashions… I get absolutely giddy when its time to break out the scarves, hats, tights, etc- the possibilities are endless!
I hope “y’all” enjoy a fabulous Fall!!
