Kindness is an idea that is meant to be shared with everyone. This is a wonderful idea that knows no borders. It can help everyone, no matter his or her race, religion, or ethnic group. Kindness is proven to have positive effects on both the giver and the receiver, and it’s not that hard. It could be as easy as smiling at someone who is having a bad day, or as extravagant as starting organizations that give out of country aid. Either way, both can lead to a more peaceful world.
If everyone contributed to helping others, even out of their own country, our whole world could be so much happier and healthier. This simple act could lessen the amount of wars, and allow everyone to be allies. If everyone, from all corners of the world, were helpful to others, every single person would have everything they needed. If this happened, no one would have any reason to start wars with others over resources that they are lacking. This would keep us from having to give aid to others because they simply wouldn’t need it anymore, or draft people to go out to fight in a war that could have been prevented. No wars would also lead to a lot fewer casualties, and many people could live longer, healthier lives.
Another act of kindness that could lead to a better world is if each country attempted to learn and understand the other’s culture. This could result in better communication and understanding of each other. Just think about it, this could prevent events like the Holocaust, or any historic act of genocide. This could also prevent terrorists, and terrorist groups from disrupting our global peace. People would be able to live without fear of being harmed by others because they are simply misunderstood. Each culture could thrive, and live peacefully alongside others. Also, this could lead to less judgment among different cultures. Everyone could understand everyone else, and his or her beliefs and religions. Together, we could eliminate world conflict, and bring everyone closer to one other.
Kindness can be as easy as you want it to be. You could simply help someone up when they are down, or cheer up a friend who isn’t having a good day. Even helping someone carry something, or giving up your seat to a handicapped person is a kind act, and even though these may just be second nature to you, they can really mean a lot to whoever the receiver is. Kindness can also be taken to extreme measures. You could help other people in the world that may not be as fortunate as you by visiting them, and bringing them what they need in order for survival or happiness. Or you could just send them care packages to let them know you care. These simple actions can easily win you the hearts of others. No matter how big or small your act of kindness is it all contributes to a much better world.
Many people in our world don’t take the time to consider the effect our kind acts have on the people around us. A lot of our population is taught from day one to think of themselves first. This has contributed to something Becki Rizzuti calls the “me first” type of society. Many people say that they give back to the community, but these are the same people who try to avoid eye contact with the person holding the sign on the street, or look away from the person sleeping in the doorway of the abandoned building, thinking that if they don’t see it then it isn’t there. Simple acts such as giving clothes to the man with the sign, or giving food and water to the homeless could not only improve their day, but could ultimately give them that second chance that they have been looking for. It is proven that being nice to someone is not only good for the receiver, but for the giver too. Practicing kindness could lead to a healthier heart, healthier relationship, make you happier, and it can even slow your signs of aging from showing. But be careful, kindness is highly contagious!
So, no matter what form it is in, practicing kindness could actually lead to world peace. Everyone, no matter who they are, or what they believe, should be kind as much as they can, and as often as they can. Everything from helping other countries, smiling at someone who is sad, or donating to the less fortunate, can lead to better health. If you are kind, others will be too. And remember, any change could start with you. As Lao Tzu once said,”Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love.”
