Don’t worry about that though, I have put together an awesome list of fun things to do on those rainy days.
#1: Melted Crayon Paintings
You have probably seen this before, but just in case you don’t know how to do it I am going to give some simple directions. The first thing you need to do is cover your work surface with newspaper; it’s going to get messy. Next, peel all of the wrappers off of the crayons you want to use. Line them up vertically across the top of your canvas and glue them down so that they are all touching. Then, prop the board up at a soft angle and apply heat to the crayons. For this you can either use a heat tool like a lamp, or a hair dryer on a low setting. And voilà! Now you have an incredible melted crayon painting. (If these directions need more clarification, just search “melted crayon art” and you will see a plethora of cool ideas, the possibilities are endless!)
#2: Splatter Painting
Splatter painting is a really simple project. All you need is cardstock, food coloring, and rain. First, you simply drop different colors of the food coloring all around on the cardstock. Then, wait until it is softly sprinkling and set your paper outside (on a clean surface like a deck or table so it doesn’t get muddy). Wait a few seconds and bring it in to dry. Now you have a very cool designed paper and you can do whatever you want with it!!
#3: Movie Marathon
This one may sound very unoriginal, but you can get really creative with it. For example, you can invite friends over and do a “potluck” type activity. This means that everyone chooses a movie and writes it down on a slip of paper and put it in a hat/bowl. Whenever it comes time for the next movie, you just draw one out of the hat or bowl and watch it next. Also, you can set a theme (for example: scary movies, romantic comedies, or movies starring Johnny Depp) and watch movies within that theme. Don’t forget the popcorn and your favorite movie sweets!
#4: Baking/Cooking
You have probably thought of this one, but why not try to get really creative with it? You could try new recipes, change old ones, or just bake something fabulous with crazy sprinkles, icings or designs. You could even try to make homemade ice cream, or have a tea party with iced tea.
These are just a few fun suggestions that can help to cure those rainy day blues. Have fun!
