After tryouts in April, the Golden Rams begin training in June. Their competition season moves forward through November to the State level. Golden Ram, Avery Anderson is currently enjoying her sophomore year as a member of the team. “We have enjoyed cheering at the Pep Rallies this year, that has been new for us,” says Avery. “Now, our student body can see who we are and how we represent Grayson.” Avery and her friends have great friendships and all remain very busy each week to keep their grades up and practice every day.
Athletic Director Brian DeBerry has promoted the team at GHS pep rallies that are held during the lunch periods. Coach Kealey Knight is new to Grayson but jumped right in for the challenge to coach the girls. Lay coaches Micah Redden and Cody Shafer of Future Extreme train the girls every day.
Their choreography is only 2min 30Sec and is filled with tumbling, jumps, dance, and stunting. The team competed November 14th-15th at the State of Georgia Championship in Columbus, Georgia. Together, they placed 4th in Sectionals and advanced to the State Competition. At the State Level, the girls placed 12th in the AAAAAA classification. It was a successful season!
The twenty-five Golden Rams work hard for Grayson High School and for each other. Thank you Golden Rams for representing Grayson well at the competitive level. Seeing the intense level of training from my spot on the bleachers has been an eye-opening experience. Congratulations! Everything is better in gold!
