Our globe is changing with respect to geographical features. It is changing due to the effects of time, climate and shifting land masses. Our culture is changing from the effects of the shifting of mores caused by economics, shift-ing population groups, the media, and governmental influences.
Our changing bodies through aging and events are before us like never before. Technology has made it possible to watch our life change literally as it is happening anywhere in it from head to toe. Our life is changing with respect to physical features. It is changing due to the effects of time and shifting masses! Our mental stability is changing from the effects of time and shifting mores caused by our economic condition, how we spend our time and money, our physical and mental condition, the people we are around, the events we experience, our quality of life.
Both of these areas of our existence our in a constant state of downward flux, ever changing, ever moving toward the end. We are told in our Bibles that one of these days this present world will pass away. We know that one of these days we will pass away due to the change always happening, we see that happening with others every day. So here we stand like the child on a throw rug waiting for his brother to playfully pull the rug out from under him, how depressing, how desperate.
So what do we have that cause others without it despair and seek mind or body numbing experiences to try and escape the inevitable decline of life? We have this marvelous, outstanding, stupendous, awesome, spectacular statements in our Bible that says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Do not be carried away….”, Hebrews 13:8. We can see the same Jesus Christ through the course of redemptive history in Scripture. With Him, there is “no variation or shifting shadow”, James 1:17. He is ever with us, “All that the Father gives Me shall come to Me.”, John 6:37. “Nevertheless I am continually with You; You have taken hold of my right hand.”, Psalm 73:23.
So, if you happen to start feeling threatened today, look down at your feet and notice the throw rug you are standing on! Pay attention to your own dark thoughts, the world, or the Devil stooping down to give that rug a jerk! Just step back onto the Rock of your salvation and enjoy Jesus Christ who has promised His children His presence, safety, and stability.
