Summer fun!
By Soraya Bagheri

And the count down begins! Just weeks away from the start of the legendary summer! With the Georgia Milestones officially over the students at Couch Middle CAN NOT stop thinking about the dives into the pool, beach time, and non-stop time with friends.

But, Where do we actually go? You could say traveling is a hobby of mine, so for this month I’m going to change it up a bit and tell you the best places to visit over the summer!

First off, Beaches! Everyone LOVES the salty air, and sand in your hair! What beaches are the best to go to? My favorites start with Tybee Island, it’s close to home, but it is also on the way to Savannah, which has great restaurants, shops, and boat rides on the Savannah River, two great places in one visit.  A must go to in Tybee Island is the Crab Shack, with the outdoor setting and awesome crab legs this has to be one of my favorite places ever!! Don’t forget to visit the lighthouse while you are there too! Amelia Island is also a great beach to visit off the Atlantic Ocean. There are lots to do from shopping in Old Town to nature walking trails, fishing, horseback riding, golfing, and more! Lastly Destin, Florida, right on the Gulf of Mexico with white sand and blue water.  If you need a place to stay Sandestin Beach and Golf Resort has it all! A great family resort with a fun nightlife in the Village of Baytowne Wharf. While you are in Destin don’t forget to eat at Fudpuckers and feed the alligators.

Next, Theme parks! Obviously there is Six Flags not far from home; however, my ultimate, highly recommended place to ever visit in the whole wide world is nonetheless, Disney World. A fun get-away week, filled with Magic and visits from Mickey Mouse and all of the other Disney characters!! Don’t forget to visit Downtown Disney while you are there and if you need to cool off Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach water parks are so much fun!

If Disney World is too magical for you then I suggest visiting Universal Studios, the Wizard World of Harry Potter.

Although, this place isn’t a theme park, it is just as fun as one. Great Wolfe Lodge in North Carolina is a fun indoor and outdoor water park, which is enjoyable for everyone.

For a great inexpensive activity to take on with friends or family is tubing in Helen, Ga. It is surrounded by an actual village with great restaurants such as Big Daddy’s. Don’t forget to visit Hansel & Gretel for something sweet!

Whether it’s going to the mall or hanging out by the pool, enjoy your summer because those two months will slip by quick. Stay active and enjoy your own, “Suntan City”.

Congrats to the graduating class of 2015! See ya next year Couch Middle!
