Hey everyone... Glad you’re here! Since my last article, I had a incident happen.

My precious yellow lab, Sophie, decided to take a long walk. It was July 4th around 1:00, we got her back home on Saturday afternoon. The reason for me telling you this is: 1) I was a mess for 30 + hours, 2) she has never done this before in her 12 years, and 3) Facebook is awesome when it comes to something like this. I had 60 to 70 friends all commenting and giving me encouragement. 20 or so posting her pictures on their page and sharing it and 5 friends actually got in their cars and drove around. WOW! As if I wasn’t crying enough. I want to thank all of you again, you know who you are.

“Take this job and shove it, I ain’t workin here no more.” We all remember Johnny Paycheck’s #1 hit in 1977 and if you were like me you sang it loud and proud. For whatever reasons there are some of us who just find it difficult to work for large companies or for anyone else other than ourselves. Not to say there is anything wrong with being a 9 to 5 employee as that is a life some want as well. However, those of us who own small businesses know it is not a 9 to 5 job, it’s a passion.

A Sarah Care citizen

This summer I feel I have gotten the perfect summer “job”. Four days a week, I volunteer at Sarah Care, an adult day care facility for senior citizens who have Alzheimer’s Disease. I have been volunteering there for a year now. Before summer break, I was only able to work once a week, but it is so much more fun working more often.

2nd and last month of summer break!

Wow! Just yesterday it felt like I was writing my 1st article for the Gwinnett Citizen and now I’ve already written my second article…in the second and LAST month of summer break! The school year is just weeks away but, before we hit the books lets rewind and see what some of the students at Couch and Bay Creek Middle School did for the Fourth of July.
