Based on a true story by Playwright Kingston-Strayer, “A Southern Exposure,” is a comedy-drama set in a small town in 1990’s Kentucky. The action of the play centers around a year in the life of four strong southern women as they learn about love, family and the power of the female spirit.
The play begins with Callie Belle Hurt’s announcement that she has fallen in love and is moving to New York City, news which stuns the grandmother who raised her and her two aunts. Throughout the play, the four women discover their inner strength and their ability to overcome the hardships that life throws into their path.
“A Southern Exposure” addresses the importance of family, whether it is the one you are born into or the one that you make for yourself,” states Director Brandi Kilgore. “Having a support system where you can find love and acceptance is something we all need, so we can plant our roots and continue to grow.”
“A Southern Exposure” runs July 19th-29th on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and on Sundays at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for seniors/students/military ID. A special Champagne Brunch by Norcross’ Sizzling Peach is set for Sunday, July 29th, noon to 1:30 p.m. The cost is $35 and includes the show ticket.
