Ashworth College Supports Local Charity During Spirit Week

To recap a week of team-building activities during the Ashworth College
Spirit Week sponsored by the Ashworth College Student Services Department,
the team collected donations for a local charity, the Norcross Co-Op.

Community service is embedded in the Ashworth College commitment to helping others succeed. Besides assisting students with their studies and helping them navigate to graduation, the Ashworth College Student Services department routinely contributes to causes that create a better life for needy families.

As part of the annual Student Services Spirit Week, the department pooled its time, energy and funds to donate supplies to the Norcross Cooperative Ministry (NCM), an emergency assistance organization for low-income and homeless neighbors in the community and surrounding neighborhoods of Norcross, Georgia. Norcross is within a few minutes’ drive of Ashworth College’s campus headquarters in Peachtree Corners, Georgia.

Student Services Spirit Week invites our dedicated team of advisors to have fun while also making a difference in the world. The schedule of activities beckoned participation with these daily themes:

Monday – Wacky Socks Day

Tuesday – Kid-Friendly Food Day

Wednesday – Western Day

Thursday – Seniors Day

Friday – Team Color Day – choose a color for your team

Donations made to NCM included nonperishable, prepackaged, healthy snacks for children. Student Services also donated school supplies such as binders, markers, crayons and book bags.

“What our Student Services team has done is raise the bar on what it means to give back to the community,” said Vice President of Student Experience Melissa Maddox. “All of the staff and faculty here look up to each member of the team as individuals who have set a good example for the entire company, and for our students, too.”

Over the years, Ashworth College faculty and staff has engaged in community services projects to benefit organizations such as the American Red Cross, Atlanta Community Food Bank, Children’s Miracle Network, Habitat for Humanity, March of Dimes, and Mothers Against Drunk Driving among others.
