GCPS celebrates addition of second book mobile: New book mobile will serve the Norcross Cluster

Join in the reading fun as Gwinnett County Public Schools officially launches its second Book Mobile. An official ribbon-cutting is part of a fun-filled weekend at the Barnes & Noble location in Peachtree Corners (5141 Peachtree Parkway), including performances by school groups (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and tours of the Book Mobile (noon to 2:30 p.m.) on Saturday.

In addition, a percentage of all purchases made at the three Gwinnett Barnes & Noble locations (Buford, Peachtree Corners, and Snellville) on May 5 and 6 will be donated to buy books for the Book Mobile. You also can support the Book Mobile through online purchases at bn.com/bookfairs from May 5 to May 11. (Use Bookfair ID 12363651 at checkout.)

This summer, the new Explore Book Mobile will travel a 35-stop route in the Norcross Cluster each week, checking out school library books to students who may not have easy access to the public library. The district’s first mobile library–the POW Book Mobile launched last May– will again serve students and families in the Meadowcreek Cluster. In addition to the summer stops in the Norcross and Meadowcreek clusters, other local schools will be able to “Book the Bus” during the school year as a part of this literacy initiative to get books in students’ hands as both Book Mobiles will be stocked with new books— purchased with donations or provided by sponsors— that can be provided to students free of charge. About the new Book Mobile

The new Explore Book Mobile will visit neighborhoods and apartment complexes in the Norcross Cluster. Specific routes are expected to be finalized by the end of the month. The schedules for both book mobiles will be publicized throughout the two clusters to ensure families are ready to read when the bus rolls in. Both buses will run from June 4 to July 27 with a holiday on July 4.
