The Early Entry program offers high-achieving high school seniors early acceptance into the professional pharmacy program and will allow Kreusel and Wyton to avoid the competitive pharmacy school application process that normally occurs during a pre-pharmacy major’s junior year of college.
Kreusel is excited about joining the program after her biology teacher, Pamela Perry, inspired her to pursue science. Kreusel has taken several AP science courses to prepare for pharmacy school.
“I’m thrilled to attend Ole Miss because there is a sense of close community and bringing each other up that is very different from other colleges,” Kreusel said. “I feel that I would be very happy and successful in this very positive environment. I also love the large amount of research and hands-on experience offered at Ole Miss.”
Wyton has taken rigorous courses and participated in the gifted students program at Grayson High School. She hopes to work in a hospital or retail pharmacy setting when she earns the Pharm.D. degree.
“I have always known I wanted to do something in the medical field, and this pharmacy program is a perfect fit for me at my dream school,” Wyton said. “I am so excited to be attending the University of Mississippi in the fall.”
“The Early Entry program offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity for high school seniors interested in a career in pharmacy,” said Seph Anderson, academic advisor for the Early Entry program. “The EE1s, or first-years, truly become like family to one another thanks to a variety of programs such as EE1-only classes in the fall, a strong mentoring program led by older students and the opportunity to live alongside fellow EE1s in a residence hall community.”
