The animal shelter has large, small, mixed breeds and purebred dogs that are homeless and waiting for their new family. The free adoption special applies to cats and kittens, too.
All pets adopted at Gwinnett Animal Welfare are vaccinated, neutered and microchipped before they go to their new home.
“During Adopt-a-Dog Month, we encourage residents to visit the Gwinnett animal shelter to meet a potential new sidekick,” said Director Alan Davis. “You can discover the many benefits of having a dog: happiness, companionship, and improved physical and mental health. Dogs also enhance family and social relationships, encourage people to exercise and promote laughter.”
In addition, Animal Welfare staff will offer trick-or-treat refreshments for visitors and Halloween candy for children Oct. 25 through Halloween. Animal Welfare and Enforcement professionals will be onsite with helpful hints and information about pet care and the importance of spaying or neutering your cat or dog.
Gwinnett County Animal Welfare and Enforcement works year-round to promote adoptions and enhance the bond that people share with their companion animals. The shelter is located at 844 Winder Highway, Lawrenceville. Visit www.gwinnettanimalwelfare.com for updates on available pets and activities.
