Founded in July 1978 by Dr. Joel S. Shavin as a one-physician, one-location practice in the once small community of Snellville, the practice expanded as Snellville grew and added locations in Walton and Hall counties. This year, we have further enhanced our patient reach into Dekalb County to include a fourth office in Brookhaven. The expansion included the addition of two additional physicians, Dr. Susan Oh and Dr. Waqas Shaikh, a second Mohs surgeon.
Our eight board-certified dermatologists, Joel S. Shavin, MD, Jonathan S. Weiss, MD, Keith D. Wright, MD, Kirk D. Saddler, MD, Alia S. Brown, MD, Jessica J. Mercer, MD, Susan Oh, MD, and Waqas Shaikh, MD have over 125 years combined experience in treating dermatologic disease. In addition, our team includes the services of highly skilled and dermatologically trained Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners.
From its small beginnings, the Practice has been and remains committed to delivering the highest quality medical and dermatologic care. Recognizing the needs of the community, the Practice has grown to include a dermatologic research center to assist in the development of new pharmaceutical products, a Mohs micrographic surgery unit, a program of medically supervised cosmetic procedures and an in-house dermatopathology laboratory.
With this growth outside of Gwinnett County and its immediately surrounding communities, our name is changing to Georgia Dermatology Partners. This expansion and name change will reflect our mission and vision to be a leader in Atlanta and North Georgia-area skin care. We wanted a more dynamic statement of how our organization makes a difference in individual lives and to all the community with whom we partner.
The Practice has not changed ownership or merged with another practice. Rebranding the practice brings the name in alignment with the company’s mission, culture and philosophy. We are changing our title, but certainly not our focus. The aim remains to provide the personalized care that our patients have come to know and expect over the past 41 years. Only now, our reach extends beyond our humble roots to encompass much of Northeast Metro Atlanta. We have always been a company that provides more than dermatology to our clients.

We are proud to offer the latest technology to take care of the total skin health of our patients.
