Liberty Aviation Museum’s 1928 Ford Tri-Motor 5-AT-B flew its first flight on December 1st, 1928. It was flown for Transcontinental and Western Air (TWA) and numerous other airlines throughout the 1930’s and 1940’s. In 1964 William F. Harrah (of Harrah’s Hotel and Casinos) purchased the aircraft and began an extensive 7 year restoration. After his death in 1978 NC9645 was bought and sold by museums and individuals. In 2014 the aircraft was acquired by Ed Patrick and the Liberty Aviation Museum in Port Clinton, OH. After getting the aircraft tour-ready, Liberty entered into a lease agreement with EAA, working together to tour the aircraft around the country!
You can pre-book your seat for only $70 for adults, $50 for children 17 and under by going to www.flytheford.com and clicking on the Book Your Flight link on the left. The walk up price is $75. An adult must accompany children under the age of 16 and children under the age of 2 fly for free sitting on an adult’s lap. Flights are available from 2:00pm – 5:00pm on Thursday, May 7th, on Friday, May 8th – Sunday, May 10th flights are from 9:00am to 12 noon and 1:00pm – 5:00pm. Additional flights can be added as demand requires.
