Brookwood High’s Bazzell named state’s top Marketing teacher

A Gwinnett County teacher, who has dedicated her whole career to Brookwood High students, was recently honored with the state’s highest recognition for educators in her field of expertise.

The Georgia Marketing Education Association (GMEA) named Brookwood High’s Cindy Bazzell as the 2014 Georgia Marketing Education Association Teacher of the Year.

In addition to teaching business education courses, Ms. Bazzell also serves Brookwood High as the school’s DECA advisor. In the time that she has led this student club, membership has more than doubled and her students have won numerous DECA state competitions. Ms. Bazzell also is credited with leading the effort for Brookwood High’s Marketing program to become industry certified. In addition, she leads her Marketing students who operate the Bronco Stampede, the school store.

Cindy Bazzell joined Gwinnett County Public Schools in 2004 as a Business Education teacher at Brookwood High. Ms. Bazzell earned her bachelor’s degree, from the University of Georgia, majoring in Management Information Systems and Marketing. She also holds a master’s degree in Business Education and a specialist’s degree in Workforce Education, both from UGA.

Ms. Bazzell teaches Marketing, Computer Science, Business Education, and Work-Based Learning.

In 2012, she was named Brookwood High’s Teacher of the Year.
