Each spring, the Gwinnett County Public Schools Foundation Fund, Inc. coordinates a number of scholarships that are awarded to graduating seniors thanks to the generosity of several organizations and community members. More students will be awarded scholarships in the coming weeks. The winning students recognized in April and the scholarships they received are:
2015 J. Alvin Wilbanks Educator Scholarship, sponsored by Peach State Federal Credit Union and GCPS Foundation Fund
•Natalie Tontillo of North Gwinnett High School
•Demi Pfeffer of Mill Creek High School
This fund was established in 2007 in honor of CEO/Superintendent J. Alvin Wilbanks in guiding the district to state and national prominence as superintendent since 1996. The fund provides a one-time scholarship each year to outstanding GCPS seniors pursuing a career in education. The amount of the 2015 award is $2,500.
2015 Louise Radloff Scholarship, sponsored by Peach State Federal Credit Union and GCPS Foundation Fund

The purpose of the Louise Radloff Scholarship Program is to provide funds for Gwinnett County high school seniors who have overcome a significant personal challenge in order to graduate with a desire to pursue postsecondary study. This fund was established in 2004 to honor the four decades of service by Gwinnett County Board of Education member Louise Radloff. Thanks to the Peach State Federal Credit Union and the GCPS Foundation, the 2015 winners will receive $2,500.
2015 Alton C. Crews Educator Scholarship, sponsored by the GCPS Foundation Fund

Established in 2001 in memory of Dr. Alton C. Crews, GCPS superintendent from 1977-1989, the Crews Educator Scholarship provides a one-time scholarship to an outstanding GCPS senior pursuing a career in education. The amount of the 2015 award is $1,000.
2015 Robbie Susan Moore Scholarship, sponsored by United Ebony Society of Gwinnett

The United Ebony Society Robbie Susan Moore Scholarship was established in 2011 and provides a one-time scholarship to one or more outstanding GCPS seniors who have exemplified a dedication to community service and have plans to advance to postsecondary study. The scholarship was established in honor of the more than four decades of community service by Robbie Susan Moore. During her lifetime, Mrs. Moore received numerous awards such as the Black History Pacesetter’s Award in 1990, the MLK Keeping the Dream Alive Award in 1999, the Outstanding Service Award for the United Negro College Fund in 1992, the Exceptional Women Leaders award by the League of Women Voters in 1995, a “Woman of Courage” award by the National Association of University Women in 2002, and was named an Outstanding Georgia Citizen by the Secretary of State of Georgia in 2006. She was also the co-founder of the United Ebony Society of Gwinnett County, Inc. The amount of the 2015 award is $1,000.
2015 Beth Rihm Global Language Scholarship, sponsored by the GCPS Foundation Fund

The Beth Rihm Global Language Scholarship was established in 2015 by Rachel B. Mehravari, a Brookwood High School alumna and a former Beth Rihm memorial scholarship recipient. Ms. Mehravari credits a Rihm scholarship with helping her achieve her goal of becoming a member of the Foreign Service in the Diplomatic Service of the United States of America. The scholarship is awarded to a GCPS junior or senior who has demonstrated a proficiency in a spoken foreign language and expressed a desire to deepen fluency through cultural immersion or extracurricular study. The amount of the 2015 award is $1,000.
2015 Dr. Barbara Reed Science Scholarship, sponsored by the GCPS Foundation Fund
•Taylor Head of Grayson High School
The Dr. Barbara Reed Science Scholarship is a one-time award to a student who exhibits good character and leadership skills, has maintained a 3.0 GPA, and has a desire to enter the science field. Special consideration is given to applicants interested in science education. The amount of the 2015 award is $1,000.
2015 Mathematics Scholarship, sponsored by the GCPS Foundation Fund
•David Agyeman of Mill Creek High School
•Archana Premkumar of GSMST
Established in 2013 by the Gwinnett County Public Schools Foundation, the scholarship will be awarded to one or more GCPS graduating senior with plans to enroll full-time in an undergraduate course of study in or related to mathematics. While at GCPS, applicants should have excelled in academics, demonstrated leadership, and performed service through school, community, or work. The amount of the 2015 award is $1,000.
2015 GCPS Foundation STEM Scholarship, sponsored by the GCPS Foundation Fund
•Zachary Adams of Peachtree Ridge High School
•Victor Barr of Duluth High School
Established in 2013 by the Gwinnett County Public Schools Foundation, the scholarship is awarded to one or more GCPS graduating seniors with plans to enroll full-time in an undergraduate course of study in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. While at GCPS, applicants should have excelled in academics, demonstrated leadership, and performed service through school, community, or work. The amount of the 2015 award is $1,000.
2015 Jim Maran Scholarship for STEM Studies, sponsored by the GCPS Foundation Fund

Established in 2013 and named in honor of former Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce President, Jim Maran. The Jim Maran Scholarship for STEM Studies is awarded to one or more GCPS graduating seniors with plans to enroll full-time in an undergraduate course of study in science, technology, engineering, or math. While at GCPS, applicants should have excelled in academics, demonstrated leadership, and performed service through school, community, or work. The amount of the 2015 award is $1,000.
2015 John A. Raghu Music Scholarship, sponsored by the GCPS Foundation Fund
•Kevin Shelton of GSMST
Established in 2012 by the Raghu family in recognition of the outstanding education received by their son, John A. Raghu, while a student in Gwinnett County Public Schools. This scholarship is a one-time award to an orchestra member, with preference to bassist, who participates in community service and has a weighted GPA of 3.0 or better. The amount of the 2015 award is $1,000.
2015 Georgia United Credit Union Women on Board Scholarship, sponsored by the GCPS Foundation Fund
•Simran Rajput of GSMST
Established in 2014, the Georgia United Credit Union Women on Board Scholarship is for an outstanding young woman from Gwinnett who is a change agent and leader in her community. The amount of the 2015 award is $2,000.
