Volunteers spent the past several months working with the staff and management team of Side by Side and helped plan and carry out the third annual basketball game competition between local lawyers and doctors affectionately dubbed Jawbones vs. Sawbones.
Hundreds of community leaders, local news sportscasters such as Fred Kalil, Herb White and Sam Crenshaw, athletes, Traumatic Brain Injury professionals, family, friends and supporters attended the game and enjoyed a fun evening of on-court entertainment including live music, an incredible silent auction, photo ops with Falcons cheerleaders and dancing Chick-fil-A cows. There were poignant moments as members of Side by Side shared some of their personal stories of tragedy and triumph.
This nail-biter exhibition game was held on March 15, 2014 at the Decatur High School gymnasium where the Jawbones Team won the title for the second year running.
Presenting sponsors, Long and Holder, LLP and Cash, Krugler and Fredericks, LLC were extremely pleased with the outcome – both the score and the revenue.
Proceeds will be used for scholarships to benefit brain injured adults as they learn to thrive in their “new normal.” Side by Side serves clients from all over the state with more than 30% of their membership coming from Gwinnett County.
