Gwinnett Tech has consistently been a leader within the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) in the total number of graduation awards conferred, granting the highest number of associate degrees in the system last year. By the end of summer term, which completes the current academic year, the college will have conferred degrees, diplomas and certificates to an estimated 1,500 graduates.

Gwinnett Technical College President Dr. Glen Cannon welcomed graduates, family and friends, saying, “You are to be congratulated for your perseverance and applauded for your success. It is apoint of privilege for our faculty and staff to be able to celebrate with you.”
Commencement keynote speaker Michael L. “Sully” Sullivan, J. D., a member of the state TCSG board, told graduates, “Celebrate what you have achieved. You have worked hard and you have been given the training and the tools to build a bright future for yourselves and your families.”

Sullivan, a successful attorney and now the president and CEO of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Georgia, began his own education at a public two-year college, working full-time to pay for tuition and books. He ultimately graduated from the University of Georgia and became a “Double Dawg” when he earned his Juris Doctorate degree at UGA as well. His hard-fought path fueled his commitment to technical education and community colleges, and led to his role as a prominent member of the TCSG state board. Sullivan also serves on a host of other local and state boards, primarily focused on education, quality of life, and economic development.
Gwinnett Tech’s 2015 Distinguished Student, Tracy Sewell, an Environmental Horticulture student, accepted for the graduates, saying, “Change is a part of life and as we transition into a professional world, change won’t stop. No matter what challenges come your way, my wish for you is that you approach them with a positive force…Do something that you believe in so much that you just have to do it!”
Gwinnett Tech is currently accepting applications for Fall Semester 2015. The application deadline is June 25. Fall classes beginAugust 19.
