Lake Lanier Islands Resort® Promotes Community Involvement with Give Back Thursdays

Georgia Lakeside Resort to Host Final Give Back Thursdays of 2014
Season on July 31 and August 7 to Benefit Goodwill of North Georgia

Buford, Ga. – Lake Lanier Islands Resort is home to so much more than the popular waterpark, beach and boardwalk at LanierWorld, 20 distinctive wedding venues, a lakeside golf course, luxury accommodations and famed Magical Nights of Lights holiday tour.

Community Involvement with Give Back Thursdays

Because of its solid commitment to the community that surrounds it, the year-round Georgia destination is also home to annual charity events like the Sam Robb Memorial Golf Tournament to benefit CURE Childhood Cancer and the Sam Robb Fund, Phil Niekro Skins and Fins Tournament to benefit Operation One Voice, and the recent Pirates of Lanier Poker Run to benefit a multitude of causes. This summer, in an effort to promote community involvement among its fans, the Resort has hosted Give Back Thursdays at LanierWorld. Earlier in the season, visitors were asked to bring in five canned food items for the Georgia Mountain Food Bank and – as thanks – the Resort granted themhalf off regular priced admission to LanierWorld per person. The response was overwhelmingly positive. Over the course of just three weeks, Lake Lanier Islands collected 5,887 pounds of canned goods to benefit the North Georgia-based non-profit.

For Give Back Thursdays on July 17 and 24, the Resort asked guests to bring in a grocery bag filled with new school supplies OR a new back pack in order to benefit school children in need through the North Gwinnett Co-op and receive half off admission to LanierWorld. For its final Give Back Thursdays of the 2014 season, Lake Lanier Islands is asking guests to bring in a box or bag filled with gently used clothes on July 31 and August 7 to benefit Goodwill of North Georgia and its mission to connect area job seekers to training and employment. In return, guests who do so will be rewarded with half-priced admission to LanierWorld*.

“In one Thursday alone, we filled 15 total barrels with canned goods for the Georgia Mountain Food Bank,” said Lake Lanier Islands’ LanierWorld Manager, Isaac Hathaway, Jr. “Thanks to an excellent team effort, what a great success this program has been this year! We are providing our guests with a great discount on LanierWorld admission while helping our local community.”
