The scholarships were provided by the Lawrenceville-Duluth Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity in conjunction with the LDAC Foundation.
The Kappas spent all year raising money for the scholarships through activities such as their annual Golf Tournament and their signature event held each May, the LDAC Luau Weekend. The LDAC Luau weekend consists of an All-White Affair and Luau style party held at the Vines Mansion in Loganville.
The organization raised $29,000 and awarded funds to deserving high school graduates from the Gwinnett County area. Scholarships and book-stipends were also awarded to graduating members of their Kappa League (mentorship group) and the Georgia Gwinnett College Elite Scholars.
Awarding the scholarships is part of Kappa’s core values of achievement, service and scholarship.
