This award is given to the Director who have shown a commitment to the community through effective and consistent outreach and who have demonstrated outstanding teaching skills to retain and motivate students.
The Childbloom Guitar program is a comprehensive musical education program for children between the ages of 5 and 18 which is in use by educators throughout the nation for the past 37 years. The Childbloom method was brought to the area when Derwyn Browne founded Childbloom Northeast Georgia in 2011. The program has grown steadily and currently serves 45 plus families in the area.
The Childbloom Northeast GA program features a high-level performance component for students who have achieved a certain level of mastery.
During Derwyn Browne’s tenure as Director, he has established two ensembles Crystal Clear is being the flagship ensemble of Childbloom GA NE, established in 2013. And recently Sapphire Sounds in August 2016, which consists of younger students to form the junior ensemble. Additionally, Mr. Browne founded the GA Music Camp. This Annual Camp in which he brings select professionals to work with the students of the camp, there by exposing the high caliber of musicianship and artistry.
Derwyn and his students have been featured in many newspaper articles in the last few years. One of the memorable moments for Mr. Browne as he is affectionately called in the local community. Was in December 2015 when Crystal Clear Guitar Ensemble performed at the Tree Lighting Ceremony for the Governor Nathan Deal and his family at the State Capitol.
