Michelle Gay McGill Couch

Michelle Gay McGill Couch of Lawrenceville went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 13, 2018. Michelle was born on August 21, 1968, to her parents Charles and Dorothy McGill of Summerville, South Carolina. She was a graduate of Summerville High School and attended Trident Technical College, and is predeceased by her parents and her beloved sister, Sherrilyn Drawdy.

Michelle is survived by her loving son Andrew Henry and Trinia Garner and grandson Brayden, of Lawrenceville, Georgia; her sister Dorothy Richards of Summerville, South Carolina; her loving nieces Sheriess Elizabeth (David) Singletary and Audrey Richards; her half-sisters Kathy Ferrell, Tammy McAlhany Brunson and Dina Pike; and so many friends in the community and her church who knew Michelle and loved her through this journey.

Michelle was well-known and deeply loved in the community, ever willing to devote her time and resources to inform and assist community leaders and the public with her considerable talents and skills. She proudly attributed her willingness to serve to her beloved father, who also served the community of Summerville with selflessness and devotion. While her professional achievements are too numerous to mention, one of her most treasured accomplishments was the publication of her beloved newspaper, the Tri-City News. She also enjoyed working as a Private Investigator for a time. Putting her considerable organizational skills to use (those who knew Michelle knew about the ever-present “binder”), she organized events such as a successful local book launch, competitive pageants, and several local political campaigns. She also served youth and families in the Grayson/Loganville/Snellville area at Bay Creek Park, serving on the Board and being involved with both cheerleading and baseball.

Her friends, of which there are a great many, will remember Michelle’s sharp and quirky wit, her love of films, and her altruistic devotion to anyone she called “friend.” Her kind and humble nature indelibly marked more people than Michelle could have possibly realized, and her spirit and memory will no doubt continue to set an example and change lives for the better long after her passing.

The Memorial Service to honor and celebrate the life of Michelle Couch as held on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, Michelle’s wishes were to establish a college fund for her cherished grandson, Brayden, the shining light in her life. Should you desire to do so checks can be made payable to Brayden Henry and mailed to 400 Windsor Brook Lane, Lawrenceville, GA 30045.
