National society honors Osborne Middle¹s Gillespie

Lawrenceville, GA. (January 27, 2014) One of Gwinnett County¹s decorated art teachers is once again being recognized for his service to his students and the field of fine arts. The National Art Honor Society (NAHS) named Osborne Middle¹s Dallas Gillespie as National Junior Art Honor Society Sponsor of the Year.

DallasGillespie 190The national award honors Mr. Gillespie¹s dedication in leading an outstanding student chapter. 

Mr. Gillespie began his career with GCPS in 2003 as an art teacher at Dacula Middle. In 2004, he became part of the inaugural staff at Osborne Middle. In addition to teaching art, Mr. Gillespie works with Osborne Middle students on the school¹s annual yearbook. He earned his associate’s degree in Education from Floyd College and a bachelor¹s degree in Art Education from the University of Georgia.

The National Art Honor Society will officially present the award to Mr. Gillespie during the National Art Education Association Conference in March in San Diego, California.

This is not the first recognition Mr. Gillespie has earned for hiscontributions to the field of art education. In 2010, he was honored by the Georgia Art Education Association (GAEA) as its GAEA Middle Teacher of the Year.
