News Release: car-jacking & aggravated assault

On January 16th, 2014 at approximately 930 pm, Snellville Police responded to a Hijacking of Motor Vehicle and Assault call, at 2240 Kings Gate Circle, Snellville (Gwinnett County) Georgia.

The victim was approached by an unknown Black male as she walked towards her mailbox. The suspect charged at the victim and grabbed the keys to her vehicle. The victim attempted to retrieve her keys which resulted in a physical altercation. The suspect assaulted the victim causing visible, non-life threatening injuries to her body. The suspect fled the location in the victim’s Gray 2003 Ford Explorer GA License Plate PPD 7189. On Saturday January 18, 2014 DeKalb County Police Department located the stolen vehicle and arrested the driver Leonte Banks. DeKalb County Police charged Leonte Banks with Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, Obstruction of Officers, and other traffic related charges. Snellville Police Criminal Investigations Division is currently investigating other possible suspects in connection with the crime. Criminal charges are pending at this time.
