The contract for the road work was awarded to local company E.R. Snell Contractor, Inc. in the amount of $621,579.44.
Patching, resurfacing and milling on 13 city streets should be completed by the end of May 2015, according to Public Works Director Gaye Johnson.
“We’ve come a long way in the last couple of years in paving,” said Mayor Pro Tem Tom Witts following the vote. “We’ve got a long way to go but we’re catching up.”
Funds will be taken from the Public Works Department’s Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant fund, which is allocated by the state, in the amount of $136,546.86 and the budgeted Capital Paving Expense line in the amount of $200,000. The remaining funds will come from taxpayer-funded Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax funds.
The project will complete street surface upgrades in the Nob Hill area of the city.
